Residential design for people living with dementia that is grounded in how dementia changes sensory perception and spatial navigation.

A dementia diagnosis can raise many questions at once, and adapting your home, whether you own it or rent, can add to this uncertainty. A complimentary 30-minute call gives us time to talk through what your situation needs and which changes to look at first. You will walk away with concrete advice on what to prioritize. You may leave your questions in the booking form, if you wish.

This hour is for families holding a list of possible changes, a contractor's quote or a half-finished assessment, and wanting to know which step comes first. You may have worked through parts of the Dementia-Supportive Homes Toolkit or read the Dementia-Supportive Homes Manual, or you may arrive with plans already made and want an experienced second look. We start from wherever you are.
One hour realistically covers a part of the home. Examples are a bathroom together with the staircase, a revision of a floor plan for structural changes to the building or reshuffling of rooms, or refurnishing advice for the rooms where the person living with dementia spends time regularly. A larger renovation needs more time. In that case we use the hour to set priorities and agree on a sensible next step, and Designer-by-your-side offers consistent support across a longer timeline.
Before the session, you complete a short questionnaire and, if you wish, send floor plans, photos, and assessment results. During the call, we review your priorities together and agree on practical next steps for the person living with dementia and everyone who shares the home.
Afterwards you receive a concise implementation guide with your immediate actions, points to raise with contractors, and a rough phasing plan.

DEMENTIA DESIGN CONSULTATION

Some renovations need consistent input over weeks or months. If your family is coordinating contractors and wants an interior designer to look over each detail, this package of five meetings keeps dementia-supportive expertise at hand throughout the project. Questions can be raised as they come up, decisions reviewed before they are final, and plans adjusted as needs change.
